Aston Martin has taken its Super GT to a new level with the introduction of the Vanquish S.

Sporting a naturally-aspirated 6.0-liter V12 engine with 580 horsepower, the Aston Martin Vanquish S will be priced from $297,775 including destination for the coupe in the U.S. Opting for the Volante convertible variant will cost $315,775. According to the British automaker, deliveries in the U.S. will commence in April 2017 while other markets will get it starting December 2016.

Along with slightly more performance (12 hp), the Vanquish S also benefits from a “revised, freer-breathing intake system” that has larger volume inlet manifolds to bring in a greater volume of air to the engine at high revs. Aston Martin also took the time to recalibrate the eight-speed Touchtronic III transmission to deliver faster gearshifts and greater refinement at low speeds, giving the Vanquish S a greater sense of precision and immediacy.

The suspension has also been tweaked, with the damper internals, spring rates and anti-roll bar bushings getting retuned for the Vanquish S.

On the outside, the luxury sports coupe stands out from the standard production model thanks to a new aerodynamic package. Finished in exposed carbon fiber, the revised front splitter and rear diffuser deliver a meaningful reduction in frontal lift with a minimal penalty in additional drag, the automaker says. Out the rear is a new quad exhaust that gives the Vanquish S a more aggressive appearance.

Aston Martin will also offer a wide range of options for the mode, including carbon fiber hood louvers, new forged five-spoke diamond turned wheels and a choice of striking painted graphics packs. Inside, it can be further customized with a choice of new “Filograph” quilted leather.

“From the moment the original Vanquish was launched it became a modern icon. It propelled Aston Martin from an era of hand-built cars to one where craftsmanship and technology combined to create a new kind of great British GT,” said Aston Martin president and CEO, Dr. Andy Palmer. “In its second generation the Vanquish maintained that momentum with huge engineering advances such as its all-carbon fibre bodywork and compelling, contemporary styling. Now, the Vanquish S takes things a step further, confidently asserting itself within the Aston Martin range and distinguishing itself from the new DB11. A spectacular machine in every sense, the Vanquish S is a magnificent addition to our range.”
