Jaguar has announced new details on its upcoming sports sedan, which will go on sale in 2015.

A new engine plant designed to produce 4-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines is currently being built, with new powerplants destined to find their way under the hood of the unnamed model starting in 2015. The news comes via Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director Andy Goss speaking at a press briefing on the even of the Detroit Auto Show.

In addition, the new sports sedan will come with all-wheel drive. “We’ve learned out lessons,” says Goss. “Anything we launch in North America in the future will have AWD.”

While the global launch in set for 2015, the new sports sedan is likely to arrive at US dealerships in 2016 cautions Goss, something that’s common among German manufacturers.

The new sports sedan is likely to be followed by a crossover build off the brand’s new modular aluminum architecture as Jaguar looks to grow brand sales dramatically over the next few years.

Currently Jaguar sells one car for every four Range Rovers sold, despite a dramatic 41 percent increase in sales in 2013.
