Karma Automotive to Debut 3 New EVs at Shanghai Auto Show
Karma Automotive, the Chinese-owned remnants of the now-defunct Fisker brand, will debut three new models at the forthcoming Shanghai Auto Show.
In a statement, Karma said the three models represent its “short, medium, and long-term product direction.” They will include an updated Revero, a “new model designed in partnership with Italian design house Pininfarina,” and an “all-new concept model called the Vision.”

It seems likely that both the Pininfarina-designed model, along with the forward-looking concept, will be pure electric vehicles.
The Karma is powered by electric motors but also features an onboard gasoline generator to charge the batteries, similar to a Chevrolet Volt.
The rights to the designs and engineering for the Fisker Karma were sold to China’s Wanxiang Group after Fisker went bankrupt in 2013. Wanxiang Group bought Fisker’s former Delaware manufacturing facility as well, allowing them to put the hybrid luxury sedan formerly known as the Fisker Karma back into production as the Karma Revero in 2016.
Karma says its forthcoming media event in Shanghai represents a “new birth” for the brand, four years after it bought Fisker out of bankruptcy.
The 2019 Shanghai Motor Show will open to media on April 16.
