2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE Teased in New Video
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE has been teased with a short clip showing its front-end and LED headlights.
The very brief clip lasts justs seven seconds and shows the GLE’s headlights turning on, revealing a pointed design similar to those on the Mercedes-Benz CLS.
Mercedes-Benz plans to roll the new GLE out soon – likely at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October. It will allegedly ride on a new rear-wheel drive platform called MHA that will also underpin the forthcoming 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS. It’s not clear what engines may be on tap, but Mercedes’ 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 may appear in certain trim levels paired with its 9G-Tronic nine-speed transmission. We’re expecting a plug-in hybrid model to pop-up at some point too.
All-wheel drive should be standard in the US, but we hear a lighter rear-wheel drive model may be sold in some markets as well.
AutoGuide.com scooped the interior of the 2019 GLE previously, showing off the SUV’s widescreen navigation and driver’s display. The huge screen is running Mercedes’ latest MBUX infotainment technology and is joined by a center console touchpad and steering-wheel mounted controls. The same spy photo set uncovered much of the SUV’s exterior too, revealing an evolutionary design language that takes after other Mercedes crossovers such as the GLC.
Additionally, new GLE coupe variant is currently in the works and should join the standard new GLE in 2020.
