Mercedes Adds AMG Door Projectors to Official Parts Catalog
Mercedes-Benz has announced the addition of AMG-branded illuminated door projectors to its original parts catalog.
The AMG door projectors, which are available for every Mercedes-Benz from the entry-level CLA sedan to large vehicles like the GLS, project the iconic logo of the performance division onto the ground when the driver or passenger doors are open. The AMG projector joins the existing Mercedes star projectors offered on non-AMG Mercedes vehicles.
Mercedes says the AMG projectors can be installed “in a matter of minutes,” at an officially recognized dealership. The factory-installed entrance lighting located at the bottom of the doors is simply replaced with the new LED projectors, allowing the cam, valve and valve spring logo to be cast onto the ground as the driver gets into the vehicle.

Mercedes says the AMG projectors can be paired with the light-up Mercedes three-point star, but we’re not so sure if that’s a good idea stylistically. To each their own, but these light-up emblems and door projectors are a bit gaudy, in our opinion.
But don’t listen to us. If you like these projectors, they’re available from your local Mercedes dealer now. We imagine they’ll be popular with owners of AMG SUVs.
