Gordon Murray Automotive will release details on its first new car in early November.

The designer behind the heralded McLaren F1, Gordon Murray, has announced a new low-volume car manufacturing company called Gordon Murray Automotive. The company promises to release details on its first car on November 3 at the “One Formula” exhibition, which celebrates 50 years of Gordon Murray car design. Although little details have been announced, Gordon Murray Automotive did say the first car will serve as a flagship model and it will return to the principles applied to the McLaren F1 and “will buck the current trend for ever more complicated and heavy vehicles.”

Vehicles built under the Gordon Murray Automotive brand will naturally use Murray’s iStream manufacturing process, which focuses on using lightweight composite materials bonded to a steel tube chassis for a rigid and lightweight frame.

“The new manufacturing business significantly expands the capabilities of our group of companies,” explained Professor Gordon Murray. “With our first new car, we will demonstrate a return to the design and engineering principles that have made the McLaren F1 such an icon.”
