A Lamborghini mule thought to be a high-performance Aventador Performante has been spied.

Now that the Lamborghini Aventador SV has sold out and the Italian automaker made headlines with the Huracan Performante, it seems only natural an Aventador Performante would be in the works. A prototype was first spied during the winter test session, but now spy photographers have caught it on camera in both coupe and convertible styles.

The exhaust configuration on the tester looks just like what’s found on the Huracan Performante, perhaps hinting that Lamborghini will use the nameplate for this hotter Aventador. We have our doubts, however. Lamborghini has only ever used the Performante name on performance-focused versions of its V10 models, with its hardcore V12 cars getting the Super Veloce, or ‘SV’, name instead. Instead, we think this could be a mule for the upcoming Lamborghini special edition model.

It’s too early to know what these test mules may be for, but at the very least, the yare a sign that Lamborghini is working on some type of new mid-engine V12 model.

That's not going to stay there, look at the Huracan Performante's early test cars, they had a similar thing going on.
