The 2018 Acura RLX was overshadowed only slightly this week at its official debut during Monterey Car Week.

But that’s to be expected when a large hybrid luxury sedan is displayed next to a brand new, eye-popping, mean-as-hell prototype race car.

Nonetheless, the 2018 Acura RLX gets thoroughly refreshed with a bold new look up front, sportier cues around back, and a new gearbox for non-hybrid models.

Naturally, you’ll notice the new diamond pentagon grille and the flashy jewel eye headlights. Around back, there are aggressive-looking tailpipes, LED tail lights, and a new gloss black diffuser. The wheels are also a new design.

In case you were wondering about the bright red paint finish, that’s a new color for 2018 models, along with another new look called Majestic Black Pearl.

Inside, the RLX gets new seats, and upgraded materials including a new available Espresso interior color.

Pricing details have yet to be announced, but if you can keep your eyes off Acura’s new ARX-005 race car long enough to notice the RLX next to it, we’d all consider it a huge success.
