The Tesla Model S topped Strategic Vision’s Consumer Love index for 2016.

After capturing the title in the index’s inaugural award in 2014, the Tesla Model S was missing last year for sampling reasons. This allowed the Porsche Macan to be named America’s Most Loved Car in 2015, but now the Model S is back and some would say that it wasn’t even a close race.

With an overall score of 652, the Tesla Model S took the title of Best Model in the Consumer Love Index, followed by the Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan with a score of 583. Rounding out the top five for luxury vehicles is the BMW 3 Series (581), BMW X1 (560) and BMW X5 (552).

When it comes to mass-market models, the most loved is the Nissan Juke, earning a score of 542. The Volkswagen Golf GTI (532) claimed second place, while the Subaru XV Crosstrek (516) came in third. Subaru also placed fourth among economy cars with its Legacy (510) and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (506) finished fifth.

The Consumer Love Index measures the amount of love owners experience with their new vehicle and consists of data from over 120 different aspects of the ownership experience. Each person surveyed rates on a scale that ranges from “1 – I Hate It” to “7 – I Love It.”

“Make no mistake about it. Tesla Model S being the Most Loved Vehicle in America is more than just a gleaming compliment to their whole team,” said Christopher Chaney, senior vice president of Strategic Vision. “It is the Rosetta Stone example to manufacturers and government agencies for getting more consumers to purchase alternative fuel vehicles.”
