Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept Previews Next-Generation SUV

Mitsubishi debuted a new plug-in hybrid SUV concept at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

Called the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept, the automaker says it’s a preview for a high-end, next-generation SUV and features the company’s latest design language along with its advanced and proprietary electric and all-wheel control technologies. Sporting a similar design to the Range Rover Evoque, the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept has a coupe-like style, projecting the image of a grand tourer.

The focus of the concept is Mitsubishi’s triple-motor PHEV system that features a next-generation high-capacity drive battery package and an engine designed specifically for the PHEV system. The concept has an all-electric driving range of 75 miles (120 km) and a combined hybrid range of over 746 miles [1,200 km]. The triple-motor powertrain consists of one motor up front and two at the rear to deliver full-time, four-wheel-drive performance.

Joining the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept at the 2016 Paris Motor Show will be the eX Concept, Outlander PHEV, Outlander, ASX, Shogun, L200, i-MiEV and Mirage.
