The hotter Fiat 500X Abarth is coming.

AutoGuide.com‘s spy photographers have caught the 2018 Fiat 500X Abarth fully exposed, confirming that Abarth will expand its offerings beyond the current Fiat 500 coupe and cabriolet compacts.

The four-door Fiat 500X crossover sports all the signature additions Abarth is known for, including a sportier front end, retuned suspension, larger 18-inch wheels and bigger brakes with red calipers. Out back is a dual exhaust.

Our spy photographers also mentioned that the Fiat 500X Abarth’s exhaust note was quite aggressive, hinting that the model could be borrowing its powerplant from the Alfa Romeo 4C. Since the Fiat 500X Abarth is being developed to compete with the Juke NISMO and MINI John Cooper Works, it will have to sport at least 200 horsepower. The Alfa Romeo 4C currently has 237 hp, so a version of that engine would fit the bill.

Expect the model to come with all-wheel drive to stay competitive with the MINI Countryman JCW.
