Top 10 Most Expensive Cars We Drove in 2015

We are very grateful to drive and review all sorts of cars from economy subcompacts, to family sedans, SUVs and, yes, ridiculously expensive sports and luxury cars.

These pricey cars have a lot of horsepower, tons of cylinders, are made in limited quantities and go really fast, so it’s no wonder they’re so expensive!

The Porsche 911 Targa features a cool semi-droptop-style roof that is totally awesome to watch in motion. Road Test Editor Mike Schlee believes that this heavier and more expensive Targa body style is the best type of 911 configuration available. With its 3.8-liter flat-six making 430 hp and 324 lb-ft of torque, this may be the best-sounding boxer engine on the market. Our tester featured a ton of cool luxuries like 18-way adjustable seats that were both cooled and heated. That brought the price tag well over $150,000.

Number eight on our list is the brilliant V12-equipped Aston Martin Vantage S Roadster. Just look at this amazing baby blue droptop. We’ll give you a few seconds to pick your jaw up off the ground. If you get the chance to hear this V12 in action though, you’ll need more than a few seconds to unscramble your brain and form a sentence. Instead, we’ll provide you with a small card that you can hand to people trying to have a conversation with you after you’ve just experienced a V12 Vantage S Roadster for the first time. All the card will say is “That car is f%^king awesome!” It certainly is, and costs just over $200,000 to get that reaction.

Maybach is back for 2016 and we tested the coachmaker’s new vehicle, the limo-like S600. This long-wheelbase sedan sports a 6.0L twin-turbo V12 that makes 523 hp and 612 lb-ft of torque. That engine is remarkably refined for something that can hit 60 mph in just five seconds, but the real draw of the Maybach is its interior. The car sports plush pillows, a champagne holder and even reclining rear seats. That’s $203,635 well spent!

Aston Martin has only two sedans: The Aston Martin Rapide S and the ultra-exclusive Lagonda Taraf that’s limited to the Middle Eastern market. The Rapide S is a gorgeous four-door that sports a 6.0-liter V12 engine that makes 552 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. It’s fast, too, hitting 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. However, you’ll be excused if you want to take things slow and just enjoy the vehicle’s beautiful interior.

The Lamborghini Huracan is only fifth on this list? You may be wondering how that’s possible. Well, the Huracan is actually the Italian automaker’s entry-level vehicle, with our tester sporting a price tag of just $237,250, which is a bargain compared to the more powerful Aventador that costs closer to $400,000. Oh, and with the its 5.2-liter V10 engine making 602 hp and 412 lb-ft of torque, the Huracan does just fine, even if you have to daily drive it, as we show in our video review.

Another high-end luxury sedan, this time the Goldilocks-like Bentley Flying Spur. With its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 making 500 hp and 487 lb-ft, this car really does fly, hitting 60 mph in 4.9 seconds thanks to its impressive all-wheel-drive system. However, the high price tag of this ride can really be attributed to the interior design and materials used in the Bentley. There’s machined aluminum, supple leather and intuitive, tactile switchgear. And the rear seat is quite cozy, too. Check out the full review on this quarter of a million dollar sedan.

The most expensive vehicle we tested this year is another Aston Martin, the epic Vanquish Coupe. The brand’s ultimate grand tourer, the Vanquish sports a 6.0-liter V12 engine that makes 568 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque that helps the car hit 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph. For 2015, the car received new wheels, a new eight-speed transmission and has cut a lot of weight. The only thing that hasn’t trimmed down is the sexy car’s price tag, which was a highv$287,820.
