Tesla is reaching out to Model S owners to address recent reports of reliability issues with the luxury sedan.

Consumer Reports recently pulled its recommendation for the Tesla Model S, citing numerous reports from owners regarding reliability issues. The American automaker has been sending emails to current owners, claiming that in the past 12 months, the company has decreased reliability issues by half with improvements being made at no cost to owners. “If hardware does need to be fixed, we strive to make it painless through our four-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty (and eight-year/unlimited mileage battery and drivetrain warranty),” the company added in the email.

Some of the issues Tesla acknowledged that have been addressed on the Model S include charging equipment and infotainment system, as well as reducing brake noise and improving the fit and finish of the Model S interior. Tesla also added that 97 percent of current Tesla owners expect their next car to be a Tesla.

Following Consumer Reports‘ announcement, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted that the reliability survey included a lot of early production cars and that the issues have already been addressed in new cars.
