2017 Jaguar XE Powertrain Details Released
Information on the 2017 Jaguar XE powertrains for the US has been released.
The car will offer two engines at launch, a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 in the XE 35t along with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel in the XE 20d. Both of the engine options can be paired with all-wheel drive, though rear-wheel drive comes standard.
The more powerful Jaguar XE 35t gets 340hp and 332 lb-ft of torque thanks to its supercharged engine, allowing the car to sprint to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. On the other end of the spectrum, the small diesel make 180 hp and 318 lb-ft of torque and Jaguar says it will be the brand’s most fuel efficient model. Both motors are hooked up to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Three different trim levels, Premium, Prestige and R-Sport, are available with both engines. Opting for the top-end R-Sport trim brings along larger front air intakes, satin chrome side vents, gloss black side window surrounds, a rear spoiler and optional 20-inch forged alloy wheels.
New safety technology and infotainment will be present on the XE as well. Autonomous emergency braking, a laser head-up display and Jaguar’s All-Surface Progress Control that helps to control traction in slippery conditions will all be fitted to the new XE. The new InControl infotainment system runs on an eight-inch touchscreen and features BlueTooth and USB connectivity along with a platform for both iOS and Android users to access their smartphones through the touchscreen.
The new XE will hit US showrooms in Spring of 2016.
