2015 Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon MPG Slightly Improved
General Motors has announced official fuel economy estimates for its latest crops of SUVs spread across the Chevrolet and GMC brands.
When equipped with a 5.3-liter V8, the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban are good for 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway with two-wheel drive. Add on four-wheel drive and the Tahoe loses one mpg in on the highway while the Suburban drops one mpg for both city and highway bringing its rating to 15 mpg city and 22 highway.
As for the GMC brand, both Yukon and Yukon XL equipped with the 5.3-liter V8 and two-wheel drive deliver the same numbers as the Chevy vehicles with 16 mpg city and 23 mpg on the highway. Throw four-wheel drive into the mix and the Yukon nets 16 mpg city and 22 mpg on the highway, while the Yukon XL drops to 15 mpg city and 22 mpg highway.
When equipped with the larger 6.2-liter V8, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL two-wheel drive will return 15 mpg city and 21 mpg highway. Add four-wheel drive and the Yukon nets 14 mpg city and 21 mpg highway while the Yukon XL returns 14 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.
The smaller 5.3-liter V8 returns 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque in all Chevrolet models while the larger 6.2-liter V8 produces 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
