Maserati has updated its GranTurismo MC Trofeo race car for the 2013 race season, enhancing the vehicle’s aerodynamics while widening the body and reducing weight slightly.

Teams competing in the one-make series can now order the 2013 race car that now has a curb weight slightly over 3,000 pounds. The powerplant remains the same as the former race car with a 4.7-liter V8 cranking out 444 hp. Teams will continue to race on Pirelli tires.

Maserati hopes to have over 20 teams competing in its series and currently there are around 15 teams signed up to compete this year. The season will kick off on April 28, 2013 at the Paul Ricard Circuit in France before heading to various places around the world including the Nurburgring, Shanghai International Circuit in China, and Sonoma Raceway in California.
