Back in August, our spy photographers caught the 2014 Bentley Continental Flying Spur out testing, as the British automaker aims to have its updated sedan model to debut by the end of next year.

The changes to the Bentley sedan model are in line with staying ahead of its main competitor, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Naturally, the new Flying Spur will draw design influences from the new Continental GT model, along with the larger Mulsanne flagship. The wheelbase from its predecessor will be carried over, but overall the Flying Spur will have a much sportier appearance when it debuts next year.

Bentley will also focus on making its interior more upscale, similar to what it did with its Continental GT model. That includes higher-grade moldings, instruments, leather and carpets. Many components have also been refined for a more luxurious ride, including the air suspension, ride quality, and powertrain noise.

Powering the new Flying Spur will be the same powerplants found in the current Continental GT and GTC models with the addition of a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 mated to an eight-speed ZF transmission to be offered for the first time. As for the W12 model, the four-door will benefit from 567 hp, while the Flying Spur Speed will have 616 hp.
