Small NSX Might be back on the Table
Rumblings of a smaller version of the new Acura NSX are resurfacing after Honda shelved the project during the financial crisis.
Should the car be built, it would share many of the same parts as its larger counterpart and would essentially be a crunched-down version of Acura’s much anticipated supercar, inside sources connected to MotorTrend say.
As with all inside information, specific details are unavailable, but the car would make sense because it would help justify the research and development costs associated with building a supercar. It would probably come with one of Honda’s already-existing engines which would offer several choices.
Among those, the brand could choose its 3.5-liter V6, or more likely a four cylinder unit like the 2.4-liter or 2.0-liter inline four cylinders. Then again, the company could reach even deeper down the displacement ladder for its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that currently powering its WTCC car.
The same source also said the “Small NSX,” as it’s internally called, will come with Acura’s SH-AWD system, though it isn’t clear if it will also be a hybrid.
