Ram 1500 Lone Star Goes Silver in Texas

Ram has revealed a new Texas-only edition of its truck along with a few packaging changes for 2017.

The Ram 1500 Lone Star will now be available with the Silver Edition, not surprisingly bringing along a chrome surrounded grille, bright belt moldings, chrome mirror caps, chrome side steps, 20-inch wheels and a Lone Star badge made from milled-aluminum on the grille.

Inside, the seats can be had with a sporty cloth and vinyl setup finished in either brown, beige, black or gray. Lone Star Silver Edition trucks will cost an extra $900, with Ram saying the base MSRP should sit at $40,315.

Besides that new Silver Edition version, Ram has added features to Limited and Longhorn trucks as well. Limited-trim trucks can now be had with black “RAM” lettering on the tailgate for a cost of $195. Longhorn models get new bright-chrome grille and belt molding options. The new billet port grille with the large “RAM” lettering on the front will also be available for Longhorn models by late 2016.

For all 2500 and 3500 Laramie, Longhorn and Longhorn Limited models, the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 will now be the standard powerplant, while all four-wheel drive models will now use Bilstein monotube shocks as standard. A new 4×4 off-road package is also now available for all 2500 models that includes new shocks, hill-descent control, a limited-slip differential, all-terrain tires, transfer case skid plate, fender flares and a new “4×4 Off-road” graphic.

Finally, Ram rolled out the 1500 Night Package, complete with black 20-inch wheels, a blacked out grille and black badges. Besides looks, the Night Package also comes with a cat-back exhaust, cold-air intake and black running boards from Mopar.
