As AutoGuide first reported last month, Acura will debt the all-new 2014 MDX luxury crossover at the New York Auto Show next week.

The Honda luxury division showed a near-production prototype (above) at the Detroit Auto Show in January, giving a thinly veiled look at the styling updates and technology that will comprise the new package.

Riding on an all-new platform, Honda says the 2014 MDX, “will offer enhanced ride comfort, a more versatile cabin, and increased fuel efficiency, while also improving dynamic performance.”

Along with the visual updates, under the hood is an all-new direct injection 3.5-liter V6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management to help improve fuel economy, while Acura hopes to achieve a best-in-class MPG rating as a result of a new front-wheel drive model. In addition, the MDX will continue to be available with the brand’s SH-AWD system.

A longer wheelbase is designed to improve ride quality, while also adding second-row legroom, while a host of new safety and technology features are available. In the safety department there is Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning as well as a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera and the optional Lane Keeping Assist System plus a Blind Spot Information system. Finally, the MDX will also offer adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow; a technology that first joined the Acura brand with the 2014 RLX.
